This is the 1860 Federal Census records,
Missouri, Township: Benton, Polk co. Listed here is John W. Brewer, his
wife, America and their children.
John W. Brewer was the son of a prosperous
landowner, patriarch of the Brewer clan, Jacob Fletcher Brewer,
whose wife was Eda Crocker Brewer.
Eda was the daughter of Authur and
Elizabeth Wakefield, Crocker
Authur and Elizabeth had.

5. Keziah Matilda: B.c. 1819 GA. Married James Carson, December 18, 1828

6. Clark: Born in Ill., c. 1811. May 28, 1826 he married Anna Carpenter.
7. Thomas: B. 1816 Ill. On March 26, 1828 in Shelby Co. m. Nancy
Middleton
Ragan Brewer, 2001, in his studies of this family makes mention that these
men were noted hunters, frontiersmen.
Where Lee Otis Jones, gggrandson of Jacob Fletcher Brewer, ggrandson of
John Wesley Brewer learned these skills is not known. They are skills. Lee
knew how to be able to target this tiny creature high in a tall
pecan tree and drop it to the ground with one shot. After that time
knowing how to skin and clean it, using the flesh for food and the skin
for a hat or some other decorative part of a costume, was just part of the
completed cycle of survival.
Lee could identify every tree of the forest
and just shortly before his death taught the slippery elm tree to his
children, grandchildren. He knew how and what plant to use for soap.
My father knew the plant to yield up fibrous roots to weave tight baskets.
These same skills to mention but a few are
what made his ancestors prosperous.
The above edited photo of Jeroushia does
show that it was touched up with chalk, which dates it in a time frame
for a photo of her.
Jeroushia and Editha Crocker resembled, as
they were sisters.
Editha Crocker was the wife of Jacob Fletcher
Brewer, father and mother of John Wesley Brewer who was married to Mary America Hunter.
John and Mary were father and mother to Elizabeth Ann Brewer Collins, Mrs.
Nathaniel Stewart Collins. Elizabeth and Nathaniel were mother and father
to Nancy Bellzona Collins Jones, Mrs. Joseph Hubbard Jones, my grandmother

America (correctly Amerika)
Brewer is listed on the U.S. Federal Census documents as living in
Washington, Township, June 5, 1880, Boone County, Arkansas. She is 66
years old at the time. She has a son, two years old living with her.
America was married to John W. Brewer. He died in Missouri from Civil War
illness of Small Pox and was buried in Missouri.
