1. LAUGHLIN1 MACDONALD was born Bef. 1721 in Greenock, Scotland, and died July 25, 1821 in Belfast, Maine. He married MARGARET ALEXANDER, daughter of JAMES ALEXANDER.

Notes for LAUGHLIN MACDONALD:

78th Highland Regiment, commanded by COL Fraser became reknown as "Fraser's Highlander's" for their part in battle for Quebec, 1759.
1773 - Listed as resident of Stockton Springs, Maine.

Fact 1: Also spelled McDonald.
Fact 2: Entered British army when a boy and was asg'd to the 78th Highlander Scotch Regiment which Lord
Fact 3: Loudon, in 1757, attempted to billet in Boston.
Fact 4: Participated in the capture of Fortress Louisburg, 1758.
Fact 5: With the 78th ("Frazier's Highlanders"), participated in battle for Quebec and was near Wolfe, when he fell.
Fact 6: Was at Fort Pownall (21 Apr 1764 - 6 May 1767), subsequently moved with son Roderick to Bucksport.
Fact 7: Moved to Belfast, ME to join other Scots moving there from from Londonderry, NH. Resided on east side of river.
Fact 8: The last man selected by vote to become citizen of Belfast, ME 1803.
Fact 9: Age not definitely ascertained, but reportedly was more than 100 years at death.
Gravesite: Bucksport, ME
