John A Clark born April 2 1830, married Jean Butter born September 16,1827, on May 23,1853. Births and marriage were in Forfarshire Scotland. The couple sailed for New York city on May 24, 1853 arriving some 7 weeks later. It is reported that they lived with and worked with an unidentified brother of John's in New York for approximately one year.  They then moved to the city of Chicago Illinois and later took up farming in Cook county in Illinois for several years. They moved to Champaign county and farmed lands between what is now Gifford and Penfield Illinois. Three sons and two daughters are known of this marriage, one additional son is reported to have died at birth.  The children are in order of birth, Isabelle, Alexander, Robert B, John A, and Elizabeth.

John A Clark Jr. born April 21, 1860 married Dorothea Hummell of Dewey, Illinois born October 17, 1856, on October 17 of 1882. John Jr. continued farming with his father.  The couple had five daughters, Pauline, Orvilla, Julia, Rozella Jean, and Dorothea.

Rozella Jean Clark born January 6 1892 married Henry Lloyd Wise born January 6 1890 on January 6, 1910. This couple farmed in Champaign and Vermillion counties of Illinois. They had six children, Gwendolyn, Durward, Delmar, Wendell, Harlan, and Byron.

Gwendolyn Marvine Wise born June 8 1915 married George E. Platis born December 29 1896 on February 6, 1938. George was engaged in several businesses in Rantoul, Champaign county Illinois. They had four children, Gherel, Sharron, Nickolas, and Paul.
