GENERATION 1

1.  JOHN5 MACDONALD  (ANGUS OF4 CAMUSCROSS, RANALD OF3 DALVILLE, SIR JAMES MOR2 MACDONALD, Sir Donald) was born 1749 in Dalavila, Sleat, Inverness Scotland, and died Abt.1803 near  Deep River in Moore Co.*  North Carolina.  He married MARY MACDONALD
The area where the MacDonalds lived was Governor's Creek which was a tributary of Deep River.  I think when the article said "near Deep River" indicates living near the river, rather than a community named "Deep River."
Notes for JOHN MACDONALD:
In 1778 John, Ranald, and Angus leased the Dalville, or Dalavilla (Gaelic).  (I wrote to Maggie (MacDonald) asking her if this land was leased, or if Ranald owned this land in 1778.)
John MacDonald came to America in 1802 on a sailing ship, took three months (Duke of Kent).  He died near Deep River, N.C., at his home age 54, around 1803.         Died of a lingering and painful cancer.
Children of JOHN MACDONALD and MARY MACDONALD are:
                   i.    SARAH6 MACDONALD, b. 1768.  (About 1770.,, Sleat, Isle of Skye, Scotland, d. Bef. 1850, Moore County, N.C.; m. Archibald MacGillivary, Abt. 1800, Isle of Skye, Scotland. (Archibald and Sarah MacDonald MacGillivary emigrated from Skye with the Duncan McIver family to N.C. in 1802.)
ii.    ARCHIBALD MACDONALD, b. June 10, 1771, Sleat, Ross, Isle of Skye; d. 1841, Sleat, Ross, Isle of Skye. m.Susan Robertson.................
Our line of Macdonalds, tracing them back to the year 1800, were descended from John Macdonald who owned a small estate in "Slate" - a parish in the Isle of Skye.  During this year he sold it and received (pounds) 500 clear money --- I understand in sovereigns, he with two sons and two daughters sailed to  America and acquired land in Alabama.  One son of the said John Macdonald remained in Keppock near Broadford, Isle of Skye.  The reason he did not go with the other members of tthe family was on account of his engagement with a lady named Susan Robertson -- that is my grandmother and your great grandmother --- and the son remaining in Skye is my Grandfather and your Great Grandfather; his name was Archy Macdonald.  These two were married in the year 1802, I think it  was ----     Written by W.B. Macdonald, 45 Perkin -st.  Newcastle, ( Australia), Dec. 9, 1939

This was received through William Burns McDonald, 45 Perkins St. Newcastle, December, 1939, who was a grandson of John McDonald, "TheElder"
rough extract:  "My grandfather and grandmother (penciled in above, Archibald and Susan Robertson) lived their married life in Keppock, Slate. We had a small holding there .. not many acres and I understand he had to work very hard to maintain his large family................
Both my grandfather Arch M. and my grandmother were pious people, but grandmother was exceptionally so.  Grandfather died at age of 70 and his esteemed wife at 54.  Both were interred in Presbyterian cemetery at Kilmore Skye.

2.              iii.    ANGUS MACDONALD, b. 1767, Dalville, Sleat, Isle of Skye, Scotland d. 1832, Moore Co. NC.
3.              iv.    DONALD MACDONALD, b. 1781, Dalevila, Sleat, Skye, Inverness Scotland; d. 1844, Moore Co. NC.
                  v.    MARY MACDONALD b. Dalville, Sleat, Isle of Skye, Scotland,
vi. Flora MacDonald, b. Dalville, Sleat, Isle of Skye,
Both Flora and Mary stayed in Scotland, and neither married.

2.  ANGUS6 MACDONALD (JOHN5, ANGUS OF4 CAMUSCROSS, RANALD OF3 DALVILLE, SIR JAMES MOR2 MACDONALD, Sir Donald MacDonald) born 1767 in Dalville, Sleat, Isle of Skye, and died 1832 in Moore Co. NC.  He married (1)First Wife Unknown  (2) He married ISABELLA MCDONALD about 1805 in Moore County, N.C .    He married (3) KATHERINE MATHIS January 1810 *in Moore Co. NC.
This date, January 1810 is not correct.  Angus' second wife, Isabella MacDonald MacDonald gave birth to twins, Murdock and Isabella, February 15th, 1810.  We don't know when he married Katherine Mathis, but their first daughter was Mary, born in 1812.  It is my opinion that Isabella, the second wife, died sometime after the birth of the twins.  Angus and Katherine  were probably married in 1811.
