David MacFie was my
grandfather who came to the United States c. 1880 and married my
grandmother.
He was said to be a pharmacist by trade and a native of Galsgow. He
spemd his childhood in Balmerino Fife and in Dundee. His mother was an
Auchterlonie of Balmerino near St. Andrews. His father was James Fee of
Glasgow who worked for a brick maker.
David MacFie worked after arriving in the US as a pharmacist in Mt.
Vernon, NY and as a clerk. He later got employment with a commercial
credit companuy and traveled the east and midwest as a representatrive
checking on commercial credit accounts. He died while on a trip to
Columbus, Ohio in 1899.
David MacFie was a short reddish haired young man who married my
grandmother Agnes Dellen and they had three children, Raymond, Howard and
Eva. Eva was my mother and died in 1968.
MacFie is buried in an unknown plot believed to be in Columbus Ohio,
He did become a US citizen before he died. He was born about 1855 in
Glasgow and that would make him about 45 when he died. He said he was
from Fife and gave at one time his address was Lochee, Dundee, Scotland.
I am seeking any information about his life in Scotland and what he did
in the US immediately after he arrived here. I also want information
about his professional contact, his employers and his social friends and
any clubs he belonged to. I am also interested in his place of burial and
if he had any property at time of his death.
