was splendidly sure. His for deer, both roe and red, Macintyre is supreme.
He would have agreed depth or clarity of thought, but Macintyre was long
past his poetic prime would be interesting to know if Macintyre ever met

Our New Zealand MacIntyre’s, love deer hunting
and fishing. My brother is a deer farmer in South Canterbury. Our home was
called ‘Caberfeigh’ meaning ‘Lord of the Glen.’ [Stag]. The NZ MacIntyre’s
are mostly a proud family and loners who are descended from Duncan Ban
MacIntyre the Gaelic poet. ‘Jack’ John MacIntyre b.2.11.1890 [my
grandfather] and his daughter, Fiona M MacIntyre [Mrs. Roydhouse] were
both Head School Teachers in the South Island, New Zealand.
From Fiona’s notes: ‘On August 3rd
1975 I went to see the first church established in Scotland – GREYFRIARS
CHURCH in Edinburgh. Inside the gates I was very surprised and delighted
to see the name of my ancestor – Duncan Ban MacIntyre – on the scroll of
honour – 15 names in all. Duncan Ban MacIntyre Gaelic Poet, 1812’
Celebrated Gaelic bard, Duncan Ban MacIntyre [Donnchadh
Ban nan Oran] born at Druimliaghart, Glenorchy, Argyll in 1724 and died in
Edinburgh in 1812.

descended from Duncan Ban MacIntyre Scotland:
James McINTYRE b. abt.1822, of Donegal,
Ireland married Margaret MALCOM b.abt.1827 daughter of Gardiner Malcom and
Margaret Wilson. Occupation: Farmer. Death notices: James MCINTYRE died 11
April 1883 at Pleasant Point aged 61 from Donegal Ireland and Margaret
MCINTYRE nee Malcom died 13 Jan 1919 at Pleasant Point aged 92 from
Strathlane Ireland.

Pleasant Point aged 53. Children all baptized at St Alban Church Pleasant
Point, Timaru, NZ. Three pipers in this clan.
