Mini Biographies of Scots and Scots Descendants (Mc)
McCollister, John
Dr. John McCollister is an incurable romantic."  At least that's what appears on the jacket of one of his 18 published books. 

In a sense, that's correct. McCollister, who was born in 1935, still does not know what he wants to be when he grows up.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was graduated from Capital University (Columbus, Ohio), earned his Master of Theology Degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and his Ph.D. in Communications from Michigan State University.

After serving churches in Michigan for 11 years, he taught philosophy, religion, speech and New Testament Greek at Olivet College (Michigan), Bethune-Cookman College (Florida) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Florida).

He has written 18 published books, including THE CHRISTIAN BOOK OF WHY (Random House), WRITING FOR DOLLARS (Barnes and Noble Publishers), THE BUCS, THE STORY OF THE PITTSBURGH PIRATES (Addax) and THE TIGERS AND THEIR DEN (Addax).  His newest book--THE BEST BASEBALL GAMES EVER PLAYED--will be released by Citadel Press this spring.  He has also written over 500 published articles in magazines and newspapers, including: THE SATURDAY EVENING POST, ENTREPRENEUR, FAMILY CIRCLE and THE BOSTON GLOBE.

He is a federal arbitrator who has conducted over 600 hearings.  He's also a member of the National Bar Association.

In 1982, he was the official Lincoln Day Speaker in Washington, D.C. 

His "Baseball Invocation" is on display at the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, New York.

He is listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA.

As he says...

My relatives (so I am told) came to America from the Isle of Arran.  I have visited that beautiful land several times and got to meet with others in the McAlister Clan.  They are charming people.  Each visit is accompanied by a lot of hugging, singing, swapping of stories and quite a few tips of single-malt scotch. 

       I even visited the University of Glasgow where one of my relatives--Sir Donald McAllister--was president.
