| Utensils for cooking |
Utensils for Cooking These days bring a heaviness upon the
American public because we are having to make transitions and changes
in our lives. The cost of gasoline and groceries are right up there at
the top. To beat these people at their own game we must be, at
least, as thoughtful and coniving. One thing I have done is to
invested in a large stainless steel pot, the kind cafes use. The one I
bought had to be put on layaway, but in a short time it was paid
out. Be sure you shop for one with a very heavy bottom on it. The
lighter pans will scorch your food, everytime. Avoid those. I cook in
this large pot with an eye to putting most of it in the freezer in
smaller, either gallon plastic bags or quart size, which ever the size
of your family's needs. I have a place in the chest freezer to set this
whole pot to cool the contents quickly, this avoids any spoilage and
keeps you from putting hot food into plastic bag; Alawys use a
permanent marking pen to mark on the outside of the bag, BEANS or
whatever So many times frozen food gets tossed because there isn't a
clue to what it is. Be orderly in storing this food, beans in one
place, cut up chicken in another and so on and so forth. There are so
many ways you can use this large pot. For instance, a can of chicken
and noodle soup will cost you from 50 to 80 cents. You can cook a large
pot of chicken and noodle soup, even buying already made noodles, to
store in quart size bags. It doesn't take any longer to thaw this out
and heat it up than it does to open a can and add water to that. You
can season the soup the way you like, without using the over salted
canned soups. Be sure you talk about these saving ways to your children
and grandchildren, after all, this is a most important part of our life
and livin, we can teach and share with them.

| There is much to be said of the healthy and inexpensive method of cooking enough to freeze for later. So often we need a quick meal. With the freezer full of items we previously put up, one can quickly have a hot home cooked meal on the table. don't cook for two, cook for two several times over and save the expense of the energy bill.
