The Scottish Rite Order Of The Thistle Pipes And Drums


The Scottish Rite Order Of The Thistle Pipes And Drums, chartered in 1999 is the newest pipe band in New Mexico. The band currently has nine pipers, a bass drummer, three tenor drummers and six snare drummers. The band is under the direction of  Pipe Major K.A."Dusty" McDaniel.

The Pipe Sergeant is Dan Kelley and the Drum Sergeant is Scott Davis. The band ranges in age from  ten years old to those in their sixties. The band released their first CD entitled, "Introducing... The Order Of The Thistle Pipes And Drums" in 2003. The band travels to Scotland this August to attend Pipefest 2005 in Edinburgh. This event looks to have 10,000 to 20,000 pipers and drummers on parade from 28 countries around the world raising funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
