It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Michael Keith, Earl of Kintore, Baron Kintore of Inverugie in the Peerage of Scotland and Viscount Stonehaven and Baron Stonehaven in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, Baronet and 13th Chief of the Name of Keith died suddenly at his home in Aberdeenshire on Sunday night, October 31st.  He was 65 years old.

The Earl of Kintore was one of the select and most esteemed Scottish Chiefs, who known as Camus Slayer, was a Knight in the Kingdome of Raknar.

The Earl and Lady Kintore were most recently Honoured Guests at the Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering in Enumclaw, Washington and the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Fergus, Ontario, Canada.  Kintore was active as Chief of the name of Keith and had been the Honoured Guest at the Stone Mountain and the Glasgow (KY) Highland Games.

Educated at Eton and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, The Earl of Kintore served with the Coldstream Guards in Kenya, the Oman and London. The Earl was a farmer in Aberdeenshire and President of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.  The late Earl was active in the House of Lords as an Independent sitting on the Cross Benches. Until just recently, the Earl sat on the House of Lords for many years.

The Earl is survived by Lady Kintore, a son - Lord Inverurie (Jamie) and daughter, the Lady Iona.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 5th. The Clan Keith Society USA, Inc. will be represented by Darrel S. Keith, Lieutenant to the Chief. The Keith Clan Society will be sending white roses, the clan's plant badge.
