The Family Tree - February/March 2004
Letter from the Editor

Beth Gay, DGOTJ, KR, FSA  Scot...

Boy howdy, do I believe in miracles!  They happen here every single day!

I have seen and experienced  more miraculous events in the last few months than in my entire life...and folks, miracles do happen.

A couple of miracles happened in my personal life...I’m still here working on The Family Tree.  Mel - minus a few toes - is still here to supervise happenings at New Elm, Georgia.  We both thank everyone for their continuing thoughts and prayers, cards and letters!  This getting older is really not as easy as we are told when we are young!

Many miracles have occurred at The Family Tree too!

The Stone Mountain Highland Games sent us an unbelievably generous check.  I cannot begin to express my appreciation to Gerald Larkey and the Stone Mountain Highland Games Board of Directors for the many kindnesses shown over the years and for their generous financial support as well.  Thank you!

Our wonderful friends, Roscoe & Elizabeth McDonald of Milledgeville, Georgia sent along an amazing contribution as they have done for every single year of the life of this paper.  Thank you is not adequate.
The Bell Family Association of the United States of America representing Clan Bell in Northern America sent along a most generous contribution too.  We thank Dot Stevenson for all of her efforts on our behalf.

Super Duper Postage Heroes this time include the Clan MacLeod Society, USA, Inc., Betty G. Forrester of Loganville, Georgia; Mr. Roy A. Dray of East Liverpool, Ohio; Dr. Janine K. Hall of Allen Park, Michigan;  Nancy L. McFarland of Oxford, Florida; Mrs. Carolyn Grund of Reno, Nevada; Mr. Harry Alexander - President of The Scotch-Irish Society of the United States of America from Bryn Mawer, Pennsylvania;  Charles & Wanda Whalin of Louisville, Kentucky; Richard & Janine Hall of Allen Park, Michigan;  Mr. Robert D. McLaren of Alexandria, Virginia who continues his generous annual contribution; Judge David S. Bouschor of Duluth, Minnesota; and longtime friends and traveling buddies, Paul and Jean Henson of Dalton, Georgia.  The Macpherson Charitable Trust by way of Kenneth E. MacPherson, Trustee of Berea, Ohio made a most kind contribution.

The Scottish Heritage Society of Drayton, South Carolina sent along a check for eleven YEARS of postage!

Mr. Samuel E. McCray of Corpus Christi, Texas sent a very kind contribution, making him a new Super Postage Hero!

Other Super Postage Heroes include Deborah Fantana of Pensacola, Florida; Kyle L. Smith and Carol Smith of Conyers, Georgia; Mrs. W. J. Henderson of Ocilla, Georgia; Woody Bowers of Moultrie, Georgia; Marguerite G. Ham of Plant City, Florida; Mrs. Rebecca M. Jacobs of Las Vegas, Nevada; Joe Ferguson of Toccoa, Georgia; Bonny S. McConnell of Awendaw, South Carolina; Laura Belle & Stuart W. MacRae of Savannah, Georgia; Audrey Phillips of Epworth, Georgia; Dero Ramsey of Starkville, Mississippi; The Tartan Educational and Cultural Association (Thanks, guys!); my dear friend and traveling friend Karen Lomba of Fall River Mills, California; Ms. Elaine S. Galbreath of Silverton, Oregon; and Mary Traynor of LaCanada, California!

Remember, we are a 501 (c)(3) library, so your contributions are tax deductible!

I appreciate you.  I thank you.
