Children's Hospice Association Scotland

CHASCHAS = Children's Hospice Association Scotland - You can help!
The Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) was established in 1992 to offer specialist respite care to children with life limiting illness and their families. There are an estimated 1,200 children in Scotland who will not live to be adults.

Opened in March 1996 by HRH Princess Anne, Rachel House, Scotland's first children's hospice, is already supporting over 200 families from all parts of Scotland. Sadly, demand is growing for the CHAS services and CHAS is faced with the challenge of creating a much-needed second children's hospice for Scotland. A beautiful site, beneath Ben Lomond on the famous "Bonnie Banks" of the Loch has been gifted to CHAS. The new hospice will combine all the much-appreciated features of Rachel House with a discrete facility for teenagers. It is hoped top pen this new children's hospice to families in 2003.

The Children's Hospice Association Scotland is very grateful for the tremendous support it receives from individuals and groups in Scotland and from Scots living abroad. It is impossible to say how much it means to the children, their parents and the Rachel House Care Team that Scots on every corner of the globe demonstrate so much care and concern for them.

If you would like to keep up to date with developments at CHAS, Rachel House or the proposed second hospice, you can visit the website at www.chas.org.uk If you would like to email for complete information contact John Rea, Director of Fund-raising at john.rea@chas.org.uk or Shona Cardle, Fund-raising Manager - West of Scotland at shonacardle@chas.org.uk
