The Council of Scottish Clans & Associations Annual General Meeting 2002 was called to order at 1 PM at the Chief’s Tent, Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, by Council President Lt. Col. Bob Heston.

Heston said that the Board of Trustees had recommended that the current officers be maintained for the next two years. The motion carried.

Heston reported that the website for the Highland Games contract will expire next February. We will explore the offer from Family Tree and Electric Scotland to host the site on the <http://electricscotland.com> site at no charge.

Heston said that The Family Tree had made an offer to all of the Scottish Clan organizations to publish their individual newsletters at no charge on the Internet at the <http://electricscotland.com>

Bob Heston said that Nancy Groce from The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC is at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. Dr. Groce is working on the Folk Life Exhibition for next year in Washington. Scotland has pledged 550 £s toward the exhibit.

Kurt Muir is the new COSCA webmaster. Kurt has done an outstanding job and is working on the CD-Rom which will feature all of the Scottish Clans who send information to him.

Lt. Col. Heston asked for sept names from each clan. He is working on building a CD-Rom which will the authoritative list from which we can all work.

There are three new Trustees for COSCA: Chris Harrison from Colorado and Jim and Michaele Finegan from Washington, DC.

COSCA has opened membership to individuals. $25 membership fee will cover both husband and wife although each $25 is one vote.

George Douglas, COSCA Vice President reported that the survey taken of COSCA member clans showed that the COSCA workshops are of interest to the members.

Bob Heston made a motion that the meeting adjourn.

Respectfully submitted,

Beth Gay, DCTJ, FSA Scot
