Gardening in America
July  12,  2006, Yard and Landscape

by Nancy Fletcher

This is a small space on the west side of the drive going to the backyard. The cars parked back there have to drive past this every day and it was an nsightly place. With planting these plants in between the logs my niece gave me from a tree she took out of her back yard there all at once was a much more pleasant scene to drive past. In this new beds are tomato plants, Cannas, lambs ears, and hostas. My toe and foot were broken so I had to hobble around like someone who was at risk of falling into these logs at any moment.  I think this is when my daughter took mercy on me and did the other beds. I was thankful because she did a much better job than I have been doing.
