The 1820 Society

I am glad to hear that my countrymen are resolved to act like men. We are seeking nothing but the rights of our forefathers - liberty is not worth having, if it is not worth fighting for.

James 'Purlie' Wilson
April 1820

My suffering countrymen! I remain under the firm conviction and I die a Martyr in the cause of Truth and Justice, and in the hope that you will soon succeed in the cause which I took up arms to defend.

Andrew Hardie
August 1820

They never fail who die in a great cause
The block may soak their gore;
Their heads may sodden in the run:
Their limbs be strung to city gate and castle walls,
But still their spirits walk abroad!

Byron

    Regardless of that I am a Wilson of the family of the Radical's Andrew Wilson with a recorded family tree dating to the 14th century to prove it, and I hold actual hard and fast documents belonging to the Radical Andrew Wilson which shed light on the story - and these together with family tales from a Wilson of James Wilson's tree and from a descendant of Benjamin Moir amongst others - my work is original and was written solely from records taken from the Mitchell Library and from NO work currently in print.
