A friend in need is a friend indeed A friend in need is a friend indeed
This picture was taken just minutes after Mossburn had heard that they had lost the court case to save their animals from the Foot & Mouth contiguous cull. The feeling here was one of total and utter despair and for Vicki who has worked voluntarily among the animals here for so long it was more than she could take. Vicki hid herself away to weep in private and was found by Nisser who almost seems to be sympathising with her though of course he did not know the reason for her tears! Tears, which as it turned out, were not needed but it certainly served to show us all the true depth of our feeling for the animals in our care.

Trying to make a difference to the way people think and feel about animals can be very frustrating but I have a saying and it is this; "if one goldfish in a bowl is moved into a tank because of what its owner has learnt by being at Mossburn then we have made a difference and that difference counts."
Mossburn Animal Centre vs The Scottish Executive Mossburn Animal Centre vs The Scottish Executive
Mossburn was raided by upwards of 30 Police at approximately 5.56am who surrounded the premises and closed the main road leading to the sanctuary. Why you might ask? - it was to ensure that the MAFF kill team would not be hindered in any way, this was the way they operated throughout the Foot and Mouth Disease crisis.  Friends came from all corners of the country to offer support to Mossburn's fight.
