Joey Likes to Jump

Joey Likes to Jump

Joey, the kangaroo, lived down under with his mum.

He was just a little joey and often sucked his thumb.

There was one problem that made his mother cry.

Joey liked to jump all day and Joey jumped too high.

He jumped over the palm trees and leaped over huge rocks.

Sometimes he didn’t wear his shoes; at times he wore no socks.

He leaped over dingoes, he jumped over ponds,

He sprang across the Outback, ignoring plants with fronds.

One day Joey jumped too high and landed in the dirt.

His mum leaped quickly to make sure her baby wasn’t hurt.

His tail bent in the middle and his big toe turned red.

Joey cried the whole night through while he lay in his bed.

From that day on Joey was more careful and didn’t jump so high.

This made his mum quite happy; she’d never have to sigh.
