Children's Stories

Night-time Toys

Callie lay sound asleep in her crib. Her mama turned off the light and shut the door behind her.

As soon as the door shut all the stuffed animals came to life. Each of them glowed a soft green glow. They danced around the nursery singing songs and kicking their heels high.

Bobo, the elephant, climbed on Gary, the giraffe's neck. “Take me for a ride, Gary,” Bobo said.

Tommy, the teddy, sat on the rocking horse, who pranced around the room.

Callie's mama heard noises and saw the strange green glow coming from the nursery. When she opened the door the toys stopped. Since everything seemed to be fine and Callie was still sound asleep, Mama didn't worry. She closed the door and went to bed.

As soon as the door shut again, the toys danced around the room. Bobo kicked his legs so high that he flew through the air and landed in Callie's crib. With no way to get out he had no choice but to wait until morning.

When Mama wen to pick Callie out of her crib she saw the toy elephant sitting at the bottom of the crib. Its trunk and legs poked pout through the bars. “How odd,” Mama said. She picked up the toy elephant and put it on the floor next to the giraffe. “Come on, Callie.” She picked the baby up and took her downstairs to have breakfast.

Bobo looked at Gary and winked. He whispered, “Tonight we party again,” and giggled.
