Tartan Decorated Towels

Buy a set of towels that will coordinate with your tartan. For example, if your tartan is blue and green and has a small bit of navy in it, try navy towels. Measure the width of your towel and add 1/2 inch to that measurement. Cut your strip 4 1/2 inches wide. Turn under and press a 1/4-inch hem on each side of your strip of tartan. Pin the tartan strip to the towel, wrong side against right side of the towel, with the top of the strip 8 inches from the bottom of the towel. Stitch all around the strip. You can add the touch of tartan to your washcloth too. Just cut the strip more narrow but remember to add that extra 1/4 inch all around for turning under.
