A place to be

Who has the secrets to unfold?
Life's great wonders yet untold?
If we knew the meaning of all this strife
We might just understand what is life.
There must be some grand design
Or else why the madness throughout time.

I've been to the moon and all the stars
I had a picnic on the planet Mars.
I sailed a boat on the milkyway
I slept on Jupiter the other day.

We've been most everywhere my mind and me
Yet all I want is a place to be.
A simple life with a little leisure
With little strife and some simple pleasure,
No more the madness of city living
Much less sadness and much more giving

I apologize for my fellow man
For he seems to plunder all he can.
He thinks earth's bounty is his for taking
With all common decency forsaken.
He's battled nature and won the fight
But I wonder who gave man the right?

I've been on every mountain peek
I searched the jungles dark and deep.
All the desserts barn and dry
Have been witness to my haunted cry,
I've been on every deep blue sea
Yet all I want…is a place to be.
