Poems by Bob Beveridge
Prince Michael Stewart of Albany

JOCK: The kings came home!
TAM: Who?
JOCK: The king from over the water!
TAM: Whit?
JOCK: Come back to stay with us.
TAM: Where?
JOCK: He's in Edinburgh.
TAM: Why?
JOCK: To lead us to freedom!
TAM: Yi mean like Wallace?
JOCK: Well sort of, but without all the slaughter!
TAM: AW......More like Braveheart?
JOCK: Naw! Thats pure Hollywood! A good picture though!!
TAM: Yi mean in a row boat at Glenfinnan?
JOCK : Naw!! Are you right in the heid, ya bam.
No flags! no banners! no pipes! jist come home!! Aw right?
TAM: But how do you know?
JOCK: I've seen him
TAM: Where?
JOCK: Oh, here and there
TAM: Whits he like?
JOCK: Whits who like?
TAM: Prince Michael!!!
JOCK: Right! If yi saw him you would know
If yi heard him yi would know
Most important in your heart yi would know!
TAM: Will yi follow him?
JOCK: Of course! but some have denied him! even decried him!
Called him a fraud and a liar!
TAM: Thats no very nice!
JOCK But slowly like in the 45 we're following him
Jist a trickle the noo, but it'll soon be a torrent!
TAM: Hey! Are you gettin all poetic like Burns?
JOCK: Aye I better get to the hospital then
TAM: Whit fur? bad 'Burns'?
JOCK AND TAM: HA! HA! HA!
JOCK: Naw, seriously the white cockade is on the rise again and we will be free
and I'll be there as we march down the High Street behind Prince Michael
to Hollyrood Palace, when he takes his rightful place.
I'm off, I'll se yi later.
HUGH: Hey you!
TAM: Whit?
HUGH: Your pal, whits he goin on aboot?
TAM: The kings come home!
HUGH: Who?
TAM: Prince Michael! the King! God bless him!
He's come home!!
