A Glistening Stream
by Kathleen Chambers

As I sit on my own by a glistening stream
I look at the water and start to dream
I gaze in it's depth and I want to know
What treasures there are in the water below

Pennies that were thrown to see where they'd go
A small yellow mitten that fell off in the snow
A ring that was lost on a hot summer day
It slipped  off of a finger and drifted away

Now the wind is cool and I fear I must leave
But my mind is so grateful for this small reprieve
My cheeks are rosy and my eyes they now gleam
All because I took time to sit by this stream
