Poems of Mac McAnear
Bygone the Brendan Bus

Bygone the Brendan bus that took us through the Isle
All the way from Dublin Town to travel many a mile
Bygone the Brendan bus!

O’er Killarney’s country wide
Lushly green, fat sheep, Sweetheart by my side
Bygone the Brendan bus!

‘Round the Ring, happy faces there
Former land of heartaches, hunger and despair
Bygone the Brendan bus!

Northern Eire, peace yet bereft
Manly pride, touch o’ Christ, a place where people left
Bygone the Brendan bus!

Majestic city of Edinburgh, admired by the crowd
Precious jewel perched in the crown, wears her culture proud
Bygone the Brendan bus!

The circle done of Celtic lands, weather fair and sprightly
We’ll come again in future time, thus we pray so nightly
Bygone the Brendan bus!
