On Saturday 20th June 2009 we will be
bringing down our web server to do a major upgrade from the
Microsoft Web Server 2003 to 2008 and also to IIs 7.5.
All data will be backed up prior to
this and the final backup of our databases will be done just prior
to bringing down the service.
We will also be installing new hard
disks and configuring a raid system to mirror our drives.
All of this means we will be down for
several hours while all this is being done.
In the event that we hit time
consuming problems we are able to bring back our old system without
any loss of data but that will likely add a little more to our down
time.
At the end of the day this major
upgrade to our service mean we will be a lot more secure and faster.
When this is all done our next task
is to bring up our vBulletin service and we are still looking at end
of June for this to happen. |
