Alastair's Holiday around Pitlochry
Day 1

Today I started from Kinloch Rannoch and then drove over to the Pass of Kilicrankie to see the site of the famous battle.  Read about Battle of Killiecrankie.

This is the front of the Hotel with my Blue Muckle big vehicle in front :-)

The Dunlastair Hotel is located at the head of Loch Rannoch surrounded by hills and is a really beautiful location and within easy reach of all kinds of lovely areas that I'll be exploring in the days ahead.

This is looking right and left while standing across the road from the Hotel

This is looking over both sides of the bridge across from the Hotel

More pictures from the Bridge

On left is picture from the Calinet offices out over the hotel and on the right are the workers Dave, Jaimie and Ali who without them the whole business would collapse, or so they tell me :-)

And the corridor leading from my room to the restaurant and lounge bar

Having taken this wee collection of pictures I decided to head for Pitlochry where I wanted to visit Killicrankie where the famous battle took place and here are some photos I took there...

and a final photo showing there are lots of walks around the area.  It's really a very beautiful place with many species or trees and birds. You can likely see from the depth of the pass that it would certainly be hard for the English soldiers to march through.

After this I wanted to do the Queen's view which shows you where Kinloch Rannoch is situated and where you need to drive to reach it and then onwards to Rannoch Station where you can actually get a train...
