Alastair's Move to the USA
23rd September 2003

I didn't go too far today as Blair Urquhart is coming to the hotel this afternoon with my kilt so I can try it all on and see that it fits ok.  So... I decided to drive around the south side of the loch and then do a tour up the hill so these are the scenes I'll be showing you below.

I would add that I was impressed while starting my journey to see that the area had put up posts telling you where each clan used to live and there was a note to say you could purchase a clan trail leaflet at the Post Office.

These are scenes from the foot of the loch

A useful map of the area and the start of the road around the loch

A memorial for folk that died in WWI and WWII

A couple of views from the road

I headed back to the Post Office to get that clan trail leaflet

Inside of the Post Office is an excellent cafe with some interesting posters

The above pictures are of the Royal Bank van that comes to Kinloch Rannoch each Tuesday and Friday around 11am so folk in the village can do their banking. Also went back to take a couple of pictures of the Clan Posts so you could see what they are like and then off to the upland route for the rest of the trip

Really beautiful scenery and I found an interesting wee plaque on the roadside

You can perhaps just make out a rowing boat on the right photo

The picture on the left shows a wee trail into the hills going behind the trees... if I'd had more time would loved to have explored what might be up there.

You can see from the clouds that it was a beautiful day but very cold
