The Rivers Dee and Don from Aberdeen 120 miles (192KM)
From Aberdeen go west to Royal Deeside. Crathes and Drum Castles. Continue beyond Banchory to Aboyne and Ballater (nature reserve at Muir of Dinnet). Optional excursion from balleter (shopping) into Glen Muick (red deer). Continue to Braemar (heritage centre, castle) via Lochnagar Distillery. Return eastwards, then north from valley of River Dee at Balmoral to reach Corgarff Castle. Follow River Don east to Kildrummy Castle and Gardens. NB Other castles on Castle Trail signposted from here. Go to Alford (transport museum, country park), then return to Aberdeen via optional extension to Castle Fraser.
