Walk from an 18th century
'model village' to the River Clyde's highest falls. Pioneer industrialist Robert Own went against the grain when he turned tiny
New Lanark into a model village 200 years ago. Rejecting the exploitative habits of his
contemporaries, Owen created a beautiful place that has now been restored as a World
Heritage Village and draws visitors all year round. Beyond the village lies the wooded
Falls of Clyde Nature Reserve, managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT). |
