Clan Lundin / Lundie
Chapter Ten – Lundie of Glasswell

Lundie of Glaswell, married a daughter of Patrick Blair of Ardblair by Elizabeth Ramsay, daughter of George Ramsay of Banff by Elizabeth his wife, daughter of Laurence Mercer of Aldie. Patrick Blair and Elizabeth Ramsay married around 1590.

Thomas Lundie of Glasswell married Margaret Colvill on 10th August 1692. He died before 16th October 1717, as this is the date his testament appears in Brechin commissary Court records. His ancestry is uncertain. It has been suggested that he descends from Lundie of Balgonie. Thomas married twice. His second wife (order not certian) was Janet Bruce. By her he had issue. It is not none if he had further children than those shown:-

John Lundie, merchant in Dundee, lawful son to the deceased Thomas Lundie of Glasswell and Janet Bruce, his spouse, died before 27th March 1730. Note he is not designated as ‘of Glasswell’ himself. Either another brother must have inherited the estate, or it was sold/confiscated.

The estate of Glasswell is located to the east of Kirrimur and for many years was held by Scrymgeour of Glasswell. The last Laird of the Scrymgeour family was in 1615.
