Refunds, Donations and Payments

08 Gathering Refunds, Donations and Payments Due

Refunds

Along with all the wonderful experiences there were times at the beginning when there was insufficient information and miscommunications that resulted in missing buses and pre-paid scheduled events. For those miscues, I can only apologize and offer a full refund of the payment.

Refunds will be provided if the event was cancelled (e.g. the Aileach Galley) or you missed the event through no fault of your own. Please send the name(s) and event(s) with the amount for each person and the method used to make the payment (check or PayPal).

Because I’ve received far fewer requests for refunds than I think are warranted, I assume that many have not checked the web site or found this notice. I’ve made this into a separate REFUND link which can be found at each of the web address. I’ve also extended the date for making a request to Monday, 1st September. The only event that was cancelled was the Galley Aileach ride which only was able to go out on a few occasions due to bad weather. Unless I hear from you, I have no way of knowing how many didn’t get to ride. If I don’t hear I will apportion the fund equally between the Galley Aileach Trust and the Gathering and/or the Clan MacIntyre Trust. Except for extenuating circumstances, the books will be considered closed after September 1st for the following reasons:

a. Memories fade,
b. I have Jury Duty on September 2nd, and
c. I have to concentrate fully on completing the 2nd edition of the History of Clan MacIntyre.

There are three choices you can make to refund all or part of what you are due.

1. Have all the refund sent directly to you by the method you originally paid i.e. check or PayPal.
2. Designate the refunds to defray the additional costs of the Gathering.
3. Designate the refunds as a donation to the newly-formed The Clan MacIntyre Trust (a Scottish Charity).

I cannot have a final accounting until all expenses (including refunds) have been paid. You can be assured that no one will profit from the Gathering. Rosemary and I have gladly made two trips to Scotland to arrange this adventure. The sense of joy and fulfillment that the Gathering provided has been our reward. Of course, we don’t want to have to pay for any costs beyond what was collected (losses) if it can be avoided.

Donations to the Clan MacIntyre Trust will go to maintaining our heritage e.g., plaques at the Glen Noe cairn and the Stone of the Fatted Calf, a covering of Duncan (I)’s grave site at Ardchattan Priory, restoration of the water-stained wooden surface of the MacIntyre Coat of Arms at the St. Conan’s kirk choir stall, and completion of the Trust website where clan pipe tunes, poetry and tartan’s can be displayed. The Trust has been duly incorporated in Scotland and we are now awaiting our Scottish Charity number.
Donations

There were a number of individuals who made deposits and then weren’t able to attend. Some of them generously asked that their deposits be used to defray the costs of the Gathering. They will receive a copy of the souvenir program and, if there are sufficient copies, a Taynuilt Games program.

Payments Due

There were a few individuals who made last minute decisions to attend an event but didn’t get the opportunity to pay. I have incomplete records so would appreciate it if you would let me know what you owe and make the necessary payment via PayPal or Check.
