Clan MacKay of Germany

I intend to contact other groups of the Clan MacKay from all over the world. I like to be registerd at your  Electric Scotland as Clan MacKay Germany  i.G.

So I will inform you about the Clan MacKay Germany i.G., founded in 1985, and its activities.

Information about my person:

My Name is Prof. Dr.h.c. Siegfried H.W. Schierstedt - MacKay. I am a MD and Psychologist in my own medical practice in Münster, NRW

I am 61 year old. My father was John MacKay (Scotsman) and my mother is Brunhilde Schierstedt (German).

I was born in Germany. I spent my holidays (3-4 times a year) with my family in the Highlands of Scotland for about 20 years now.

We are proude owners of a holiday home located at the narrows between Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil near Corpach, Fort William since 2004.

I founded the Clan MacKay Germany in 1985 and I am the Chief of it. There was no registered tribe of the MacKays in Germany before.

During the last years the Clan did grow. There are some members also from other scottish Clans and scottish families (e.g. Donnely, Laing, Owers, Gillisen, Miller  and other ). Of cause there are also German members.

A lot of them are soldiers who stayed in Germany after their time in the army and married German women.

Our Clan Mackay homepage is still under construction but we will send you the web-link when it is in the net. Most of the page will be written in German,

but there will be a lot of pictures of our Clan MacKay members and activities. The link above leads you to my privat Homepage which I run for about 10 years now.

On the 26th  January we  celebrated  "Burns supper" with our members at our "castle", Sophienburg.

The link below leads you to the announcement for our 4th Highland Games in Hamm (a Town near Münster) on the 14th and 15th of June 2008.

The follwing section is a translation of the announcement cause it is written in German. But there is to see a selection of photos from our last Games.

4th Clan MacKay (Germany) Highland Games  2008  in Hamm

It is the 4th time that the Highland Games will take place in Hamm presented by Clan MacKay Germany i.G. . The location for the Games will be the sportsground of TSV Berge (a big sportsclub in Hamm).

It will be a weekend for the whole family with Pipe Bands, Single Piper, Highland Dancing groups, a real scottish competitors groupe and of cause with the famouse Highland Games with the disziplins Tossing the caber, Putting the stone, Tug o´ war and many more. There will be a colorfull, entertaining programm with musicans from Scotland and others.

On Saturday evening a well known Scottish Band will play hot rhythms for dancing. We expect many enthusiastic visitors like every year. Take part in our Scottish celebration.

We are looking forward to seeing you.

Siegfried  H.W. Schierstedt - MacKay,
