Death: ABT 1844 in Big Sandy, Benton Co, TN
 from the family bible of a JOHNATHON SMITH.Shown in the 1812 Stewart Co, TN, tax records along with brother John Jr and his father John, , land entry was made by Daniel Buchanan Nov 28, 1820, for 160 acres on the Big Sandy River. The town of Big Sandy now includes part of it.Had a state grant for land issued to him on 8/29/1822 Mentioned in the Stewart County TN deed book 4 from 1810-1813.He is also shown as a witness along with Angus McLeod on Sep 19,1811.(Houston County) - "Probably the most remarkable of the many pioneers of Houston County was Daniel Buchanan, a brother to Christopher. Daniel was considered a most powerful man and,physically, had no match in the settlement. He would go into the forest, fell a tree, chop it into proper rail lengths and then shouldering the logs, would carry them to an accustomed  place and split them into rails. On one occasion in the woods when night overtook him. He was aroused by a large black bearby the fire.
