Caldwell, Erskine
Author of Tobacco Road and God’s Little Acre, which introduced the poor white southerner to the world. Caldwell was the son of a Presbyterian minister and said that he was "of Scottish and Scotch-Irish descent with a touch of English to make the whole thing authentic.".
