David moved to Flos Township from Oro Township when Flos was mostly dense forest wilderness seldom frequented by white people. He was one of the few settlers arriving and setting up farms in the mid 1800's.

He built a log cabin on his farm on the 8th. Concession of the Flos at the 20th. Side road, in the county of Simcoe. Ten years later in 1876, he built the 'Cameron Homestead' on his farm.
