sale was held on August 23, 1849. His farm, 65 acres more or less, was
sold on October 1, 1849 to Mary Mattison for the sum of $350.00. It was
located on Hencoop Creek, waters of Rocky River, Anderson County, SC (This
is between Starr, Iva, and Honea Path, SC).

Anderson County as of November 6, 1844 when he purchased the estate of
Robert Todd. He and his family later moved to Murray County, Georgia where
he was living in 1850. In the previous year, 1849, his father died and due
to the distance he was unable to attend the estate sale.

Miller County. He wrote a letter that stated that he had only killed 80
deer in the year. He had 2 sons who went to the Civil War and both were
killed or died. After the Civil War, John went to Texas and died there. He
left 2 sons, Joe and Bill. There was also 2 daughters. One married a Mr.
Lemons and the other married a Rev. Watson who was killed in the Galveston
Storm. John was buried 9 miles north of Jefferson, Texas in Cass County.

I think this is the Robert that James Samuel Duncan was talking
about in a letter that my Aunt Lila Ruth Duncan Fleming has, she
thinks it was James Samuel's Uncle Robert Jr. He dies around 1858 in
Ga. Robert Baxter dies at the age of 14.James Samuel had a nephew
Named Waddy B. and he came and talked to him when he was about 80 to
90 years old and I am not sure if Waddy's family still has that
letter.I have a copy of it but not sure if all of it is here.
