Mini Biographies of Scots and Scots Descendants (F)
Ferguson, Daniel

Daniel Ferguson fought in the Battle of Dunbar in 1650 on the side of the Royalists against Cromwell.  Daniel was captured and sent to New England on the ship UNITY and settled in Kittery, Maine around 1656.  Starting with Daniel, five generations of Fergusons lived in and around Kittery and Berwick, Maine.  In my family tree are the following:

Daniel Ferguson m. Mary -----
 James Ferguson m. Elizabeth Hodsdon
James Ferguson, Jr. m. Patience Downing
   Dennis Ferguson m. Elizabeth Weymouth
    Timothy Ferguson m. Eliza Goodwin
Mary Jane Ferguson m. Josiah Bartlett Calef*
Mary Calef m. Ostinelli F. Page**
Ruth Page m. Herbert William Coe***
Margaret Coe m. Edwin Hoyt Lockwood****
Thornton Calef Lockwood m. Mary Lenora McGinn
          We have two children

* Descendant of Josiah Bartlett, signer of the Declaration of Independence; Robert Calef, who vigorously opposed Cotton Mather's support of the Salem witchcraft trials: and Hannah Dustin, whose capture and dramatic escape from the Indians stirred early New England
** Descendant of Robert Page, one of the first settlers of Hampton, NH.  Ostinelli was wounded at the Second Battle of Bull Run in 1862 but survived.
*** Descendant of Robert Coe, one of the first settlers of five towns: Wethersfield, Stamford, Hempstead, Newtown and Jamaica
**** Descendant of Robert Lockwood who sailed with the Winthrop fleet in 1630 to found the Massachusetts Bay Colony; Isaac DeForest, one of the first settlers of New Amsterdam; and Samuel Carter whose family was devastated at the Deerfield massacre in 1704
