Mini Biographies of Scots and Scots Descendants (W)
Watt Family

Hi my name is Julie Valle nee Watt
My 3rd Great Grandparents Alexander and Andrea Sophia Watt came to Australia in 1833 on the Ship The Lady Hayes from there home in Banff Scotland they arrived with 2 of their children Robert and Andrea. They arrived at Port Jackson Sydney on the 7.12.1833 Alexander sold his cargo of tea from Canton for a considerable profit. He was offered land at Kirribilli but decided instead to go to Bathurst where he purchased the promise of a land grant from James Blacket in what is thought to be the first private sale in the Bathurst district. He renamed it Esrom after there home in Denmark.
Alexander was born 9.3.1803 Banff Scotland died 21.12.1886 Snails Bay Balmain. His father was Alexander Watt born 29.6.1766 a Gentleman from Banff and his Mother was Henrietta Johanne Klingenburg.
Andrea Sophia Watt nee Hock born 16.5.1805 Denmark died 8.7.1876 Snails Bay Balmain. Her father was Johan Fredrick Hock born 1776 Kobenhaven Denmark. Her mother was Andrea Sophia Klingenburg born 1780 Denmark.
NOTE Alexander's mother and Andrea's mother were sisters.
After arriving in Bathurst Alex and Andrea had 6 more children Espie born 2.2.1835. Alexander born 24.12.1836 at Bathurst.
Harold born25.2.1842 at Rose Cottage Bathurst. Fredrick William born 4.2.1845. Hannah born 8.7.1849 at Esron Bathurst. and one child died young.
Espie was my Great Grandfather married Jane Butler and moved to Gulgong a very small town out of Bathurst were they went on to have 13 children.
I am still working on my family tree and have came to a dead  end I can only trace back to John Watt born 1733 late of "Boatshore" of Gardentown and his wife Mary Panton born 1735. I think John was a Fisherman and Merchant.
