Nancy Bellzona's Picture Book
The Collins - Ruth Ann Hobson Buckner

Ruth Ann Hobson BucknerRUTH ANN HOBSON BUCKNER, daughter of Aletha Artemis Collins and Nathaniel Hobson Born December 3, 1906. Died October 27, 1993

On the back of the old photo, "To Bertha Jones, from Ruth Hobson and Ralph Bartlett."

In this picture, Ralph accepts a rose from his Aunt Ruth. This extended family of Elizabeth Ann Brewer Collins loved roses. Elizabeth's own stationery was always marked with a red rose. Sometimes, a feeling of love comes through in a picture without the reason being known by the casual observer. In all the pictures of this family one can see the protective air of the family toward this child. There is the reality of the thing ever present and visible and it humbles a family. As it humbles, it too strengthens. Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, all, in turn reach out, giving of themselves with love and emotional support. Ralph had a speech and hearing disability.

Ruth married Lovel Buckner. He was born December 8, 1897, died, October 17, 1985.

This fresh clean sharp cotton frock, trimmed in rick rack speaks of her personality. This whole family worked hard, diligently striving for cleanliness, honesty, and faith. In the early days of Oklahoma hard times and the drought brought about rough economic times. Also a rush of fast living oil field workers made life more complicated. Ruth's mother was Aletha (Leeth) Artemis Collins Hohson (Mrs. Nathaniel Hobson). Leeth was a sister to Bellzona. Ruth's own sister, mother of this child in the picture, Ralph, was Dewey Evans Hobson, Mrs. James (Jim) Bartlett. Dewey was born June 7, 1898, died October 30, 1932. Her husband, James Enis Bartlett was born September 19, 1893, died December 27, 1965.

Ralph, a baby in this picture, as a man was a clean, personable, pleasant, good citizen. He was hard working and honest.

Ruth Buckner and Jewel Wagner of Fairfax, Oklahoma shared the above information.
