Huntly Castle
Author's Note

SPS

When I first set eyes on Castle Huntly on the 13th. April 1992, little did I realise that I would become captivated by the benevolent spirit of a 550-year-old building. At that time I knew little about buildings, far less castles. Indeed one of my first jobs was to, "Go and look at the trees," of which 1 knew even less about than buildings. However, when walking round the estate in the company of an expert, my mind began to wander back to those in whose footsteps I was walking. From then on I was hooked. Every room has its magic, its secrets behind walls. strange shapes, architectural features and stones with stories to tell.

I am indebted to those before me who have recorded the tale of Castle Huntly, and to those who share my enthusiasm for this fine building. My modest contribution to the tale is neither the concise or the authoritative history of Castle Huntly but merely my tribute to a noble building.
