The Floods
George Flood

General Store in Alaska.. no connection with George though. It should be noted here that this Flood family's births and deaths can be found under Honora and Henry Flood in the Nancy Bellzona Picture Book. Also an excerpt out of George's memoirs can be found under his mother, Honora's, picture.

Since we did not know George personally, all we have is what has been told to us. This is the fact that George was true to the Flood standard, hard working and serious minded. He was an excellent manager and saw to the providing well for his family.

George and Barbra had three children. The oldest of his three girls was disabled. This was a heart break which would have been difficult to endure. The genetic laws of heredity say that one fourth of grandparents genes are passed on to a child with only inheriting directly their parent's teeth. This works in all cases whether animal, plant or human. The psychological part of the problem can enter causing another tedious situation, we were told in counseling. This very often causes a father to feel the full responsibility of the situation even though he had totally nothing to do with what has happened. As a result very often families are destroyed because it becomes too heavy a load for a father to accept. Information isn't available to me as to how or why George was able to shoulder the care for his daughter, whether through counseling as we had or whether he was able through his own personal self control. If this was the case, I find this to be most remarkable.

George worked in Alaska and made good wages there. It was said through wise management he was quite successful. He was a man with much self control and did well at whatever he pursued.
