Claude Vernon Jamieson, M.D.


Dr. Claude Vernon Jamieson limits his practice to diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat, and since establishing his residence in Edmonton his professional activities have been rewarded by a gratifying measure of success. He was born at Almonte, Ontario, in 1881, and is of Scotch ad Irish descent. his father, the late Joseph Jamieson, was born in Lanark county, Ontario, in 1838, and in that province he married Elizabeth Carss, whose death occurred in 1916. The father died in March, 1923.

After completing his public school training, Claude Vernon Jamieson attended the Guelph Collegiate Institute, a preparatory school, and in 1907 was graduated in medicine from the University of Toronto. In 1909 he went to London, England, for postgraduate work, and for two years walked the hospitals of that city. He then returned to Canada and later took a postgraduate course in the States, pursuing his studies at Chicago, Illinois. Since 1912 he has been a resident of Edmonton and his practice is now one of large proportions. He specializes in diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat, of which he has acquired a thorough understanding, and correctly applies his knowledge to the needs of his patients. He has never lost the attitude of a student toward his profession and utilizes every available opportunity to perfect himself in his chosen vocation.

Dr. Jamieson was married at Toronto, Ontario, on September 4, 1915, to Miss Meta Cross, a daughter of the late William Henry Cross, of that city. Dr. and Mrs. Jamieson have two sons: John Henry, who was born in 1916; and Robert Carss, born in 1918. Dr. Jamieson is a Conservative in his political views and his religious faith is that of the Anglican church. His professional connections are with the Edmonton Academy of Medicine and the Alberta Medical Association, and he is also a member of the Edmonton Golf and Country Club. He is a man of high ideals and purposes, deeply interested in the scientific and humanitarian phases of his profession, and with progress as his watchword he has gained that success which follows earnest effort and marked ability.
