Hi all this week I would like to
share with you a relaxing Sunday spent at the Zhongshan park on the
outskirts of Guangzhou , Guangdong province .
It took us around two and half
hours to get to this place from Shenzhen city which is on the border with
the new territories of Hong Kong. Getting the fast train from Shenzhen and
arriving in Guangzhou around one hour later we then had to take the bus to
the park but the amazing thing was the bus fair was so cheap only 2 Yuan
around 20 pence in the united kingdom ,
We arrived there and paid the
entrance fee which was 50 Yuan around £5 sterling each but well worth the
charges, entering into the park and like a lot of the parks in china there
seems to be a story behind them as the Chinese people do like there space
and use their parks to their full advantage. Inside the park was a huge lake
with waterfalls etc., you can get on the old style boat and sail around the
lake also there is a swimming pool which was not opened as this was in
November and for me I would have welcomed the dip but the Chinese find this
time of year just warm for them. I must also say I saw the most amazing
toilets in this place which are in the wow factor bracket. And so clean, a
credit to the park management
Also in this huge park there are
many place to stop and have something to eat and like all things in china
there are so many selling the same things that the prices are kept low, so
to eat there is the same as eating outside the park, the rose garden is well
worth a look and the blooms were so beautiful and the roses we being tended
by around 5 people all the time pruning and clearing up the area. For me I
love roses and the smell in the air was so pungent and so relaxing sitting
in the garden and taking some time to the smell the perfume off them and the
colours were so beautiful and feeling just sitting there is so peaceful.
Moving on we stopped for
afternoon tea in this small tea room with a huge rage of different tea and
beer, cola, and if you wanted some noodles they were also available. After
having tea we moved on to the museum again well worth having a look inside
these places, as china has over 3000 years of history and some of the things
you see in this place give you a wealth of knowledge about china and some
understanding how things are done there even today. The pottery and the
bronzes are well worth taking time to look at also the jade vases on display
worth a fortune. Also in the museum there are 2 terracotta worriers
mummified with their suits of armour which are made from small metal plates
and held together with copper wire. Again something new I learned when
I was in there, what is amazing is a lot of these places are all new builds
to accommodate all the relics which were all hidden away during the culture
revelation and now are slowly being handed back to the cultural office or
being unearthed as the huge building plan continues throughout china.
After the museum we wondered
through the pagoda area, this area has some nice Chinese building all built
as they would have looked in the past and some of them are used as small
souvenir shops. Also in the bonsai are the variety of the small well kept
trees and bushes which are all shaped into different things like birds and
also some into Chinese words again well worth a look but to be honest this
park was so big even arriving early in the morning and taking your time to
go around it I do not think one day is enough. Again this is chain
everything they build or do is on a huge scale and can be over whelming when
you come from such a small country like Scotland, one thing they do well is
the wow factor here in China. ok I will stop waffling on and on and let the
