Cornbread Muffins

1 1/2 cup self-rising cornmeal mix
1/4 cup self-rising flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup shortening
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 egg

preheat oven to 400. grease bread pan or muffin pan, depending on if you want a pone of bread or muffins. mix all the dry ingredients together and cut in shortening to the dry mix. add buttermilk and egg and to the mixture and blend well together. Empty mixture into well greased pan and bake on 400 deg. f. until golden brown... approximately 20 minutes or so.
