The Floods
Sara Ann Flood, Mrs. Elbert Henderson

"Girl Interrupted at her Music Lesson"Sara Ann was a teacher of Art and English in California. Since she never learned to drive, her husband, Elbert Henderson, who was a music teacher, worked his schedule around hers, so he could drive her to the various schools where she taught. Elbert had a lovely singing voice.

It would have been wonderful to have had Sara Ann as a teacher. She was the most agreeable person, sweet and gentle of speech. When she was with the children, she was always reciting some small poem by memory to them. It was a delightful thing and it not only amused the children but the adults as well.

Sara Ann was an accomplished artist who worked in oils. She also was a China painter and painted beautiful works of art on dishes. The studies I saw of hers were small pieces. However, they were strong and vibrant, with frames to complement the style.

We only had the privilege to know her at around Christmas time when she and her husband came from California to visit family.

Elbert and Sara Ann had no children of their own. They adopted a son before he was school age.

Jimmy has a family and lives in Missouri. His adopted mother, Sarah Ann Flood Henderson, passed away there.
