Allen R. Cameron, D.V.S.

Dr. Allen R. Cameron is a veteran of the World war who has been successfully engaged in the practice of veterinary surgery at Vegreville for the past four years. He is a native of Toronto, Ontario, born March 3, 1891, his parents being James and Margaret (McDougall) Cameron, both natives of Scotland. They crossed the Atlantic to Canada in young manhood and young womanhood, locating in Toronto, where the father engaged in business as a contractor and builder. In 1902 they removed westward to Alberta and took up their abode on a farm near Vegreville, to the further development and cultivation of which Mr. Cameron has since devoted his attention, with excellent success. Both he and his wife are consistent members of the Presbyterian church and are well known and highly esteemed throughout the community in which they have resided for more than two decades. They became parents of nine children, eight of whom survive.

Allen R. Cameron, who was the fourth in order of birth in his father's family, obtained his education in the public schools of his native city and subsequently matriculated in Toronto University, which institution he attended from 1910 until his graduation in 1914, thoroughly qualifying for his chosen profession. The following year he joined the army and remained in overseas service in the Great war until 1919 as a member of the First Canadian Artillery and later of the Canadian Veterinary Corps. When the war was over he returned to Vegreville, where he has continued in practice as a veterinary surgeon and in this connection has won a most enviable and well deserved reputation.

In politics Dr. Cameron is a Liberal and he is a member of the Local Community Club, at all times giving his aid and support on the side of progress, reform and improvement. His religious faith is indicated by his membership in the Presbyterian church and his life has measured up to high principles in every relation, so that he enjoys the friendship, confidence and esteem of all who know him.
