Chatham, Wallaceburg, Sarnia, Walpole Island and back to Chatham

Today, 4th June 2005, I decided to do a tour starting out from Chatham heading towards Wallaceburg and then onto route 40 to Sarnia where I intended to go down the St. Clair river to Walpole Island and thus back to Chatham.  I really wanted to see what the river was like.

I thought I'd take a few pictures of the farm lands running from Wallaceburg through to Sarnia.

And there were taken through the car window to let you see the road and woods

And here is the start of my river tour on the outskirts of Sarnia

Lots of boats on the river

Took hi-res photos here so you can get a look at the homes on the USA side of the river

Here you can learn about the St. Clair River

There loads of wee parks all along the road

There are hundreds if not thousands of wee boat piers all along the river

And you can see one of the larger ships heading up river to Lake Huron

And a large power station on the Canadian side

And one the islands on the river where you will see houses

And I arrive at the Baldoon Settlement where Lord Selkirk purchased the land and sent out settlers from Scotland

And here is the plaque for you to read

And then it was back to Walpole Island and this is the scene from the river

And you can just make out the Chatham-Kent sign on the left as I complete my tour
