Fairy In the Tree

Fairy In the Tree

Twitch and Nibbles, two mice, watched the animals run by.

“I wonder what’s going on? Look at the birds and bees in the sky.”

Twitch’s whiskers wiggled as he glanced around the glen.

“Let’s follow them,” he said, and chased after a wren.

Nibbles followed the other mouse as they ran towards a tree.

“You’re going to fast,” Nibbles shouted. “Wait! Wait for me.”

It seemed that all the creatures of the glen had gathered round an oak.

Twitched looked up in the branches and that’s when he spoke.

“It’s a fairy! It’s a fairy! She’s all dressed in pink.

She’s come to guard our glen, she has. That’s what I think.”

The bumblebees and butterflies hovered near her feet.

They thought the fairy looked kind and smelled sweet.

She sang songs to them and stroked Nibble’s ears.

She waved down to the horses and to the deer.

Nibbles and Twitch stayed nearby from that day on,

As did the others, so they could listen to the fairy song.

The glen became a happy place where animals ran free,

And danced under starlit skies as merry as can be.
