Children's Poems
by Margo Fallis
Did you hear the one...?

Did you hear the one...?

Two plump orangutans sat on some wood,

Talking about the weather, the neighbors and food.

Rusty, the biggest started to laugh.

“Have I ever told you the joke about a bath?”

Borbo shook his head back and forth, “I haven’t heard that one yet.

Tell me and I hope that I won’t forget.”

So Rusty rambled on and both laughed out loud.

“That was a good one,” Borbo said, showing his teeth to the crowd.

“Did you hear the one about the gorilla?” Rusty grinned from ear to ear.

“Not yet,” Borbo said, “but I’d sure like to hear.”

Within just a few minutes, both orangutans fell down,

Giggling and chuckling until Borbo bumped his crown.

“Ouch,” he hollered. “That hurt quite a bit.”

He rubbed his head and fought back tears, “That’s enough. I quit!”

He ran off to the nearest tree and climbed up to the top.

Rusty didn’t follow, but ran off to see his pop.
