Scotland's key whisky sector is already showing signs of new and vibrant sustainability measures vital to ensure the industry thrives in this Digital Era following an easing of Transatlantic economic headwinds.

Compare this to a mere business quarter ago when the whisky market was suffering from higher levies and declining rates of alcohol consumption with significant job cuts in the offing.

The Scotch Whisky Association had estimated charges across the industry were costing the sector up to $5.4 million a week.

Then HRH King Charles visited the White House. This together with intense lobbying by the SWA and Scotland's First Minister John Swinney has ensured the US has removed all tariffs on whisky imports.

The President added that "in honor" of the King and Queen of the United Kingdom..I will be removing the Tariffs and Restrictions on Whisky having to do with Scotland's ability to work with the Commonwealth of Kentucky on Whiskey and Bourbon."

The SWA described the move as representing a "significant boost" for the industry, adding: "Distillers can breath a little easier during a period of significant pressure on the sector.

Up until the White House move two-thirds of the prices of a 70cl bottle was hit by taxes. The SWA had informed its 30,000-plus followers on LinkedIn at stake was the future wellbeing of the entire industry and its near 66,000 employees across the UK.

The association then warned 3-in-4 whisky firms were put off injecting new investment into their operations whilst 1-in-4 expected to make job cuts.

Scotland's First Minister John Swinney described the US move as a "win on both sides of the Atlantic" adding it benefits businesses and workers, not just among whisky producers but also...the communities that support the sector across Scotland.

The US move followed courtesy of the "remarkable contribution of the King and a Team Scotland approach."

Now the sector has a far greater chance of keeping fully up-to-date of digital developments further enhancing both production and marketing of its unique global product.
