Cruachan Ben
by
Robin E. Wright

I
CRUACHAN BEN,
CRUACHAN BEN,
STANDING SENTINEL,
O'ER ETIVE GLEN.

II
MAJESTIC YOUR PEAK,
AYE COVERED IN SNOW,
WITH WHITE AND MAUVE HEATHER,
ON YE SLOPES BELOW.

III
ABOVE YE PEAK,
THERE FLOATS A CLOUD,
AT OFT TIMES HIDDEN,
WITH A MISTY SHROUD.

IV
STANDING SO LOFTY,
IN ARGYLL LAND,
BEN CRUACHAN,
YOU ARE SO GRAND.

V
THIS PART OF SCOTLAND,
IS YOURS ALONE,
REACHED BY THE PASS,
OF THE FATTED CALF STONE.

V1
FROM YOUR PEAK,
A MAN YEARLY SENT,
WITH A SNOWBALL,
PAID HALF THE RENT.

VII
THEN IT CHANGED,
TO MONETRY GAIN,
THE SNOW FROM YOUR PEAK,
WAS NOT NEEDED AGAIN.
